The big NEWSFEED thread

Postby Nayan on Fri Sep 26, 2008 8:15 am

Heard something new, related to WoW? Read something new? Post it here.
Would be much appreciated if all the posts are accompanied with a link to the Source.
Keep it clean and as credible as possible please. If you want to post a rumour, make sure you make it clear it is just a rumour. :)

Hope it will be used widely, to keep everyone updated.

(Btw, feel free to add IC news or other news related to Defias Brotherhood... like "The Dwarven Rifle Squad disbanded" or something like that - random example. Just make sure we don't end up having a gossip thread creating news :P)

Also, don't forget to CHANGE the title of your post, to describe your post. ;)

Honour and Marks reset - The special items

Postby Nayan on Fri Sep 26, 2008 8:21 am

As I said in a recent thread, honour and marks will be reset with the WotLK, in an attempt to equate the beginning level in the journey to lvl80.

Blizzard will release some items, purchasable with Honour and Marks, to "make up" for those who have stockpiled honour already, so that it won't go to waste.

The special items:
Cloak of Certain Reprieve
Sergeant's Reinforced Cape
The Gladiator's Resolution
Volanthius Shroud
Battlemaster's Resolve
Battlemaster's Courage
Battlemaster's Celerity
Battlemaster's Aggression

And here's an interesting update:
Eyonix wrote:All of the gems that can be purchased with honor will have the Bind on Pickup and Unique-Equipped tags removed so multiples of them can be equipped and they can be traded (or auctioned).

Warrior changes

Postby Nayan on Mon Sep 29, 2008 5:58 pm

Armored to the Teeth -- Changed to AP, but amount reduced to 2AP per 360 armor (to compensate for the loss of Blessings of Kings etc.). We implemented this talent for dps warriors and didn't want it to feel like the ultimate Shield Block Value talent. It's still good for Protection, just not as good. Death Knights will get the same treatment.
(Point was that we understand 1 Str > 2 AP for warriors.)

Thunder Clap -- Increase in threat generation. No target limit. Swipe gets the same treatment. With these changes, all 4 tank classes should be able to generate very respectable AE threat. Consecration is still a little higher in threat to account for Thunder Clap's debuff.

Revenge -- Added to Sword and Board as a chance to proc Shield Slam. Increased its damage significantly. We want Revenge to be the button you push first.

Shield Slam -- Increased its flat damage to compensate for the Devastate nerf a few weeks ago. The Revenge change will help dps too, though only when you're tanking. We didn't want to increase the scaling portion of Shield Slam for fear that warrior threat becomes too high at ultimate gear levels, but we might still change it if they fall behind. We're not saying (for now) that Prot must do dps with a shield instead of dual-wielding Devastates, but this should make it more viable.

We're doing some more mitigation and survivability tests now. Our suspicion is that warriors are fine in this department and paladins might fall behind in the area of Shield Block Value at very high gear levels. But we'll see.

Blacksmithing ability

Postby Nayan on Wed Oct 01, 2008 7:15 am

From general posts I read, I've reached the conclusion that a new Blacksmithing ability will be added.
Apparently, Blacksmiths gain a "Socket X item" ability, letting them add a socket to a specific type of item, for as long as they have over 400 skill in Blacksmithing.

Haven't found documentation about it, yet.

Flying Mounts in Northrend

Postby Nayan on Wed Oct 01, 2008 7:21 am

Eh... This...is... yeah.

So you got your nice mount and splashed 5.000g to get your epic flying mount. And the WotLK comes and you want to go to Northrend. Well, guess what. You can't use it until you pay another 1.000g. -.-

Re: The big NEWSFEED thread

They are still playing with the idea of wether you're gonna have to do a quest, or just pay a flat amount of gold.

However, keep in mind that the WLK gold inflation is going to be even more ridicolous than in TBC, so the 600g (Considering that you're most likely gonna be honored with the Kirin Tor, which is the faction that the mount skill vendor is currently) that you have to pay, is easily gained within two levels of questing.

A rogue I talked to, had gained 400g simply from questing, by the time he leveled from 70-72. And now consider that the gold bounty increases with levels. 1k gold at level 80 is just as easy as the level 30 mountskill is by that level, if you know what you're doing.

Semi-"End" of Season 4 in Arena

Hunter Pet Levelling changes

Postby Nayan on Thu Oct 02, 2008 10:04 am

As you probably know already, pet levelling has changed. Situation so far was: if you tame a pet that is lower level than you, your pet would gain 1/16th of your xp. Which, basically, meant that taming a lvl20 pet at lvl70, you'd need to kill mobs that give YOU xp, in order to level up your pet. Which was a major pain in the butt, as you understand (or know).

It has already been announced that with the expansion, any pet that is more than 5 levels below the hunter will automatically gain enough levels to reach that threshold. So, if you are lvl70 and go tame a lvl20 pet... it immediately becomes lvl65.

Now, there has been a new tweak to that, because of the fact that pets don't get xp from the xp the hunter gets with quests.

Ghostcrawler wrote:Pets needed 1/16th of hunter experience to gain a level, but don't benefit from quests or rest. Those two account for a lot of experience, especially at higher levels (where quest content tends to be denser).

We changed the experience needed for 1/10th. You should notice a big jump in pet level rates.
